and this addition, without mentioning (right) and (left), was also recorded by al-Bukhārī (6003), as well as Ibn Saʿd and Aḥmad (5/205) in a narration through ʿĀrim: al-Muʿtamir narrated it to us; except that he said: "O Allāh! Have mercy on them, for I have mercy on them." This wording is unusual to me because (ʿĀrim) had become confused or changed in his later years—his name was Muḥammad ibn al-Faḍl—; thus, his contradiction to those who are more reliable than him is not accepted, especially when they are a group as in this case. Some have found it problematic that he seated Usāmah with al-Ḥasan, because Usāmah was about ten years older than him, and the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) passed away when al-Ḥasan was eight years old. Al-Ḥāfiẓ answered this in "al-Fatḥ" (10/434); whoever wishes may refer to it. If it were not that (ʿĀrim) was corroborated by (Hawdhah) on the matter of seating; it could have been said that it is also unusual, and Allāh knows best. The aforementioned supplication has also been authentically reported from more than one Companion; among them Abū Hurayrah, who supplicated with it for al-Ḥasan and al-Ḥusayn (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhumā); its source has been previously mentioned under ḥadīth (2789). *******From the Virtues of the Black Stone
وهذه الزيادة دون ذكر (اليمنى) و (اليسرى) ؛ قد أخرجها البخاري أيضاً (٦٠٠٣) ، وكذا ابن سعد، وأحمد (٥/٢٠٥) في رواية من طريق عارم: حدثنا المعتمر به؛ إلا أنه قال:"اللهم! ارحمهما فإني أرحمهما". وهو بهذا اللفظ شاذ عندي؛ لأن (عارماً) كان اختلط أو تغير في آخر عمره- واسمه محمد بن الفضل-؛ فمثله لا تقبل مخالفته لمن هو أحفظ منه، وبخاصة إذا كانوا جمعاً كما هنا. وقد استشكل بعضهم إقعاده لأسامة مع الحسن؛ لأن أسامة كان أكبر منه بنحو عشر سنين، وتوفي النبي ﷺ وعمر الحسن ثمان سنين، وقد أجاب عنه الحافظ في "الفتح " (١٠/٤٣٤) ؛ فليراجعه من شاء. ولولا أن (عارماً) قد توبع من (هوذة) على جملة الإقعاد؛ لكان من الممكن أن يقال بشذوذها أيضاً، والله أعلم. والدعاء المذكور أعلاه قد صح أيضاً عن غير واحد من الصحابة؛ منهم أبو هريرة أنه دعا به للحسن والحسين ﵄؛ وقد سبق تخريجه تحت الحديث (٢٧٨٩) . *******من فضائل الحجر الأسود
