Ishāq: Yūsuf ibn Yaʿqūb narrated to us: Musaddad narrated to us: Ḥammād ibn Zayd narrated to us from Ibn Jurayj from ʿAṭāʾ from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr, raising it [to the Prophet], he said: ... and he mentioned it. I said: This isnād is good, all its men are trustworthy and well-known, and al-Ḥasan ibn Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq is al-Azharī al-Isfarāʾīnī. As for the narrator from him: Abū al-Ḥasan ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad al-Muqriʾ; he is also one of the shaykhs of al-Khaṭīb, and he was given a good biography in "al-Tārīkh," and he said (12/98): "We wrote from him, and he was truthful, virtuous, knowledgeable in qirāʾāt, and he died in the year 415." As for Yūsuf ibn Yaʿqūb; he is Abū Muḥammad al-Baṣrī, a trustworthy ḥāfiẓ, mentioned in "al-Tadhkirah" (1/660) by al-Ḥāfiẓ al-Dhahabī. Those above him are trustworthy from the men of the two shaykhs; except for Musaddad—who is Ibn Musarhad—from the shaykhs of al-Bukhārī, and Musaddad included it in "Musnad" with the isnād mentioned above, as in "al-Maṭālib al-ʿĀliyah al-Musnadah" by al-Ḥāfiẓ Ibn Ḥajar (1/42/2). He mentioned for him in the introduction two isnāds from Musaddad other than the isnād of al-Bayhaqī from him, so his men are followed from (Musaddad), thus the isnād is authentic; and all praise is due to Allāh. Al-Mundhirī included it in "al-Targhīb" (2/123/15) as a narration from al-Bayhaqī indicating its strength, and therefore I included it in "Ṣaḥīḥ al-Targhīb" in its second volume (p. 28/1134) which is under publication, may Allāh facilitate its dissemination for us.
