This was mentioned to the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and he said: "By the One in Whose hand is my soul; indeed, the angels were carrying his bier." It was narrated by Ibn Saʿd in "al-Ṭabaqāt" (3/430): Wahb ibn Jarīr informed us, saying: My father informed us, saying: I heard al-Ḥasan say: ... and he mentioned it. This is a ṣaḥīḥ mursal isnād, its men are the men of the two Shaykhs, so it is a strong witness, thus the ḥadīth is ḥasan.*
