and the isnād of Aḥmad in the first instance is authentic according to the criteria of al-Bukhārī and Muslim, and it was referenced by al-Bukhārī (6126 and 2380), and in the other instance, it is authentic according to the criteria of Muslim. Third: Shuʿbah narrated it from him in an abbreviated form. It was extracted by al-Ṭayālisī (267/1990), and through his route by Aḥmad (3/209). Its isnād is also authentic according to the criteria of al-Bukhārī and Muslim. I found three corroborators for Qatādah: the first is Wāqid ibn ʿAmr ibn Saʿd ibn Muʿādh who said: I entered upon Anas ibn Mālik, and he said to me: Who are you? He said: I am Wāqid ibn ʿAmr ibn Saʿd ibn Muʿādh. He said: You indeed resemble Saʿd, then he wept profusely and said: May Allāh have mercy on Saʿd, he was among the greatest and tallest of people. Then he said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) sent an army to (Ukaydir of Dūmah), and he sent to the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) a silk robe woven with gold. The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) wore it, then stood on the minbar, or sat, without speaking, then descended. The people began to touch the robe and look at it, and he said: ... then he mentioned the ḥadīth of the chapter, excluding the part about the gift. It was extracted by al-Tirmidhī (1723), al-Nasāʾī (2/297), and Ibn Ḥibbān in his "Ṣaḥīḥ" (6998 - al-Iḥsān) - and the context is his - and Ibn Abī Shaybah in "al-Muṣannaf" (14/41-413/18644) through the route of Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr: Wāqid ibn ʿAmr ibn Saʿd ibn Muʿādh narrated to us ... and al-Tirmidhī said: "A ḥadīth that is ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ."
