that Akīdar of Dūmah sent to the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) a silk garment, and the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) wore it, and the people were amazed by it. The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: ... and he mentioned it. Then he gifted it to ʿUmar, who said: "O Messenger of Allāh! You dislike it, and I should wear it?!" He said: "O ʿUmar! I only sent it to you so that you could send it to someone else, and thereby gain some wealth from it"; this was before silk was prohibited. I say: This isnād is good; all its men are reliable according to the criteria of Muslim. It has been also extracted in "Ṣaḥīḥ" (7/151) following the ḥadīth of Shaibān from Qatādah that follows, where he said: narrated to us by Muḥammad ibn Bashshār: narrated to us by Sālim ibn Nūḥ with it; however, he did not provide its wording, but rather said: and mentioned something similar, and he did not mention: and he prohibited silk. The ḥadīth has also been reported through other chains from Qatādah in a dispersed manner. The first: from Shaibān from him with the first part of it, without the section on gifting, and without mentioning (Akīdar of Dūmah), and added: and he prohibited silk. It was extracted by al-Bukhārī (5261 and 3248), Muslim (7/511), Abū Yaʿlá (5/423/3112), and ʿAbd ibn Ḥumayd in "al-Muntakhab" (3/101/1198). The second: Saʿīd ibn Abī ʿArūbah from him with the first part. It was extracted by Aḥmad (3/206-207 and 234), Ibn Ḥibbān (9/91/6999), and al-Ṭaḥāwī (2/343)
أن أكيدر الدّومة بعث إلى رسول الله ﷺ جبة سندس، فلبسها رسول الله ﷺ، فتعجب الناس منها، فقال رسول الله ﷺ: ... فذكره. ثم أهداها إلى عمر، فقال: يا رسول الله! تكرهها وألبسها؟! قال:"يا عمر! إنما أرسلت بها إليك لتبعث بها وجهاً، فتصيب بها مالاً"؛ وذلك قبل أن ينهى عن الحرير. قلت: وهذا إسناد جيد، رجاله كلهم ثقات على شرط مسلم. وقد أخرجه في "صحيحه " (٧/ ١٥١) عقب حديث شيبان عن قتادة الآتي، فقال: حدثناه محمد بن بشار: حدثنا سالم بن نوح به؛ إلا أنه لم يسق لفظه، وإنما قال:فذكر نحوه، ولم يذكر فيه: وكان ينهى عن الحرير. وقد جاء الحديث من طرق أخرى عن قتادة مفرقاً. الأولى: عن شيبان عنه بالشطر الأول منه دون جملة الإهداء، ودون ذكر (أكيد ر دومة) ، وزا د:وكان ينهى عن الحرير. أخرجه البخاري (٥ ٢٦١ و ٣٢٤٨) ، ومسلم (٧/ ٥١ ١) ، وأبو يعلى (٥/٤٢٣/٣١١٢) ، وعبد بن حميد في "المنتخب " (٣/١٠١/١١٩٨) . الثانية: سعيد بن أبي عروبة عنه بالشطر الأول. أخرجه أحمد (٣/٢٠٦- ٧ ٠ ٢ و ٢٣٤) ، وابن حبان (٩/٩١/ ٦٩٩٩) ، والطحاوي (٢/٣٤٣) .
