"Whoever has three daughters, is patient with them, feeds them, gives them drink, and clothes them from his wealth, they will be a shield for him from the Fire on the Day of Resurrection." This was narrated by Ibn Mājah (3669) and similarly by al-Bukhārī in "al-Adab al-Mufrad" (no. 76) and Aḥmad (4/154) through the route of Ḥarmalah ibn ʿImrān who said: I heard Abū ʿAshānah al-Maʿāfirī say: I heard ʿUqbah ibn ʿĀmir say: I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: and he mentioned it. I say this isnād is authentic; its men are trustworthy, the men of Muslim, except for Abū ʿAshānah, with a ḍammah on the mīm and a shaddah on the ʿayn, and his name is Ḥayy ibn Yuʾman with a ḍammah on the tāʾ and a sukūn on the wāw, the Egyptian, and he is trustworthy, well-known by his kunyah. Al-Būṣīrī said in "al-Zawāʾid" (221/1): "Its isnād is authentic, and it was narrated by Aḥmad and Abū Yaʿlá in their Musnads, and it has a corroborating narration from the ḥadīth of Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī, narrated by Abū Dāwūd and al-Tirmidhī." I say: this corroborating narration is weak, due to its obscurity and inconsistency, as it was narrated by Abū Dāwūd (5147) through the route of Khālid, and al-Bukhārī in "al-Adab al-Mufrad" (79) from ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Muḥammad, and Aḥmad (3/42) from Ismāʿīl ibn Zakarīyā, all of them from Sahl ibn Abī Ṣāliḥ from Saʿīd al-Aʿshá - who is Saʿīd ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Mukmil al-Zuhrī - from Ayyūb ibn Bashīr al-Anṣārī from Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī in a marfūʿ form with the wording: "Whoever takes care of three daughters, educates them, marries them, and treats them well, for him is Paradise." And the wording of Aḥmad: "No one has three daughters, or three sisters, or two daughters, or two sisters, and fears Allāh..
