"kill the fat, shaggy one, what an ugly vanguard of a people!" He said, "Woe to you, do not let this deceive you, for there has come what you cannot withstand. Whoever enters the house of Abū Sufyān is safe." They said, "Woe to you, and what will your house avail?" He said, "Whoever closes his door is safe, and whoever enters the mosque is safe." So the people dispersed to their homes and to the mosque. It was recorded by Ibn Isḥāq in "al-Sīrah" (4/17-24- Ibn Hishām), and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (8/10-15) - and the context is his -, and al-Ṭabarī in "al-Tārīkh" (3/114) - in part -, as well as al-Ḥākim (3/43-44), and al-Bayhaqī in "Dalāʾil al-Nubuwwah" (5/32), and Abū Dāwūd (3021) - a section of it - through the route of Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq: he narrated to me from Muḥammad ibn Muslim al-Zuhrī from ʿUbayd Allāh ibn ʿUtbah ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd from Ibn ʿAbbās with it. Al-Ḥākim said, "Authentic according to the criteria of Muslim," and al-Dhahabī agreed with him! Similarly, al-Haythamī said in "al-Majmaʿ" (6/167): "It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī, and its men are the men of the authentic collections." I say: Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq was only recorded by Muslim as a follow-up, and he is generally considered reliable in ḥadīth on the condition of explicit narration, as here. He is an authority in the prophetic biography as is known among scholars, and for this reason, al-Ḥāfiẓ Ibn Kathīr transmitted it in his history "al-Bidāyah" (4/288-291) from "al-Sīrah" without comment, and likewise al-Ḥāfiẓ in "al-Fatḥ" (7/8-12) definitively
