al-Mizzī, in the biography of Muḥammad ibn al-Muthanná—although he was truthful and one of al-Bukhārī's teachers, he made slight errors as al-ʿAsqalānī mentioned in "al-Taqrīb." Therefore, his narration does not oppose that of Saʿīd ibn Abī ʿArūbah from Qatādah. This was mentioned by the ḥāfiẓ Ibn Kathīr following the earlier narration of Ibn Masʿūd, and he said in his "Tafsīr" (2/39): "If this is preserved from the day of al-Ḥudaybiyyah, it is possible that he repeated this statement on that day as he did on the day of Badr." As for the ḥāfiẓ, he said in "al-Fatḥ" (7/288): "It is reported by al-Ṭabarānī that Saʿd ibn ʿUbādah said this at al-Ḥudaybiyyah."
