"he used to practice tadlīs in what he heard from Thābit from Anas, narrating it from Anas himself." Therefore, he frequently narrated in his "Ṣaḥīḥ" from him from Anas. Refer to "Fahras al-Muʾassasah" (p. 123). There is supporting evidence from the mursal of ʿAlqamah ibn Waqāṣ, which is more complete. It was recorded by Ibn Abī Shaybah (14/355-356) and Ibn Mardawayh—as mentioned in "al-Fatḥ" (7/288)—through the route of Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr ibn ʿAlqamah ibn Waqāṣ [from his father] (1) from his grandfather in a similar manner, and it includes that the one who said: "We do not say as he said..." is Saʿd ibn Muʿādh. The ḥāfiẓ remained silent about it, and its isnād is ḥasan. As for what al-Ṭabarānī narrated in "al-Kabīr" (4/209) from the ḥadīth of Abū Ayyūb al-Anṣārī with this story in a lengthy manner, and it includes that the speaker is (al-Miqdād ibn ʿAmr); its isnād is not established, even though al-Haythamī considered it ḥasan (6/73-74); because it includes Ibn Lahīʿah, who is weak, that is if it is free from the shaykh of al-Ṭabarānī (Bakr ibn Sahl); for al-Nasāʾī weakened him. Then there is a very objectionable statement in my view, which is the response of the Anṣār after his consultation ﷺ with them, saying: "By Allāh, we have no strength to fight the enemy, but we wanted the caravan!" Then he said: "What do you think about fighting the people?" We said the same, then al-Miqdād ibn ʿAmr said..." Then I reconsidered and said: It does not include the statement of the Anṣārī or Saʿd ibn Muʿādh, the phrase: "Birk al-Ghimād..."
