al-Zuhrī said: Abū Bakr ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn al-Ḥārith ibn Hishām informed me from Asmāʾ bint ʿUmays who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) fell ill in the house of Maymūnah, and his illness became severe until he fainted. His wives consulted each other about giving him a remedy, so they administered it to him. When he regained consciousness, he said, "What is this?!" We said: This is the action of women who came from here, and he pointed to the land of Abyssinia, and Asmāʾ bint ʿUmays was among them. They said: We suspected pleurisy in you, O Messenger of Allāh! He said, "That is a disease that Allāh would not afflict me with. Let no one remain in this house except that they also take the remedy," except for the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) "meaning: al-ʿAbbās. He said: Indeed, Maymūnah took the remedy that day, even though she was fasting, due to the insistence of the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam). Its chain of narration is authentic, as stated by al-Ḥāfiẓ in "al-Fatḥ." al-Haythamī said (9/33): "Its men are the men of the authentic collections." And I say it is according to the conditions of the two Shaykhs. al-Ṭaḥāwī also narrated it from ʿAbd al-Razzāq. It was also recorded by al-Bukhārī (4458) and Muslim (7/24) through another route from ʿĀʾishah in a shortened form with the wording:
