he excluded from the Baghdadis who narrated from him Sulaymān ibn Dāwūd al-Hāshimī; he said: "His ḥadīths from him are comparable." Ibn Maʿīn said: "He is the most reliable of people regarding Hishām ibn ʿUrwah." I said: And this ḥadīth is from his narration as you see, and it was narrated from him—according to Aḥmad—by Sulaymān ibn Dāwūd al-Hāshimī, so it is from his authentic ḥadīth, if Allāh wills, and perhaps for this reason al-Ḥāfiẓ remained silent about it in "al-Fatḥ" (8/148), and only attributed it to Ibn Saʿd. It has another chain and a corroborating witness. As for the chain; it was produced by al-Ḥākim (4/405) and Aḥmad (6/274) from the ḥadīth of Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq: Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar ibn al-Zubayr narrated to me from ʿUrwah from ʿĀʾishah: that she narrated to him: that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said—when they said: We feared that what is with the Messenger of Allāh is pleurisy—: "It is from Satan, and Allāh would not empower it over me." I said: And this isnād is good; Ibn Isḥāq explicitly stated the narration. Al-Ḥākim said: "This ḥadīth is according to the conditions of Muslim"; and al-Dhahabī agreed with him! Ibn Isḥāq was only included by Muslim as a follow-up, but he was followed in the first chain, so in this regard, it is according to the conditions of Muslim, and Allāh knows best.
