- (The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) was afflicted with a severe pain in his side, and it became very intense. One day it took hold of him, and he fainted until we thought he had perished on the bed. So we administered a remedy to him. When he regained consciousness, he realized that we had given him the remedy. He said: "Did you think that Allāh would allow pleurisy to overpower me? Allāh would not give it power over me. By Allāh, no one in the house will remain except that you will administer the remedy to them, except my uncle al-ʿAbbās." She said: "No one in the house remained except that they were given the remedy. Then a woman from among his wives said: 'I am fasting!' They said: 'Do you think we will leave you when the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: No one in the house will remain except that they will be given the remedy?' So we administered it to her while she was fasting." It was recorded by Aḥmad (6/118): narrated by Sulaymān ibn Dāwūd, and Ibn Saʿd (2/235): informed us by Muḥammad ibn al-Ṣabbāḥ, and Abū Yaʿlá (8/353-354): narrated by Muḥammad ibn Bakkār; they said—and the narration is from Ibn Saʿd—: informed us by ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī al-Zinād from Hishām ibn ʿUrwah from his father from ʿĀʾishah who said: ... and he mentioned it. I said: And this is a sound isnād, its men are trustworthy, the men of the two Shaykhs [al-Bukhārī and Muslim], except that Ibn Abī al-Zinād was only cited by al-Bukhārī in a suspended form (1), and Muslim in the introduction, because his memory was weak. However, al-Dhahabī preferred that his ḥadīth is good, especially in the narration of the Madinans from him. And to this, al-Ḥāfiẓ pointed by saying in "al-Taqrīb": "Truthful, his memory changed when he came to Baghdad."
