ʿAbd Allāh ibn Yūsuf al-Aṣbahānī: Abū Saʿīd Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn Ziyād al-Baṣrī informed us: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ayyūb al-Mukharramī informed us: Sufyān ibn ʿUyaynah from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī Najīḥ from Mujāhid from Umm Mubashshir, who conveyed it to the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), said: ... and he mentioned it. I said: This isnād is good; Sufyān and those above him are trustworthy and well-known from the men of the two Shaykhs [al-Bukhārī and Muslim], and they do not need to be introduced. As for those below them, I say: 1- ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ayyūb al-Mukharramī; Ibn Abī Ḥātim said (2/2/11): "He narrated from Sufyān ibn ʿUyaynah, and ... I heard from him with my father, and he is truthful." Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned him in "al-Thiqāt" (8/362), and noted that he died after the year (025), and al-Baghdādī also attributed him, but al-Khaṭīb did not mention him in "Tārīkh". 2- Abū Saʿīd Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn Ziyād al-Baṣrī: He is the reliable ḥāfiẓ known as (Ibn al-Aʿrābī), translated in "Tadhkirat al-Ḥuffāẓ", "Siyar Aʿlām al-Nubalāʾ", and others, and he has some parts and books in the al-Ẓāhiriyyah library; the most important of which is "al-Muʿjam". 3- Abū Muḥammad ʿAbd Allāh ibn Yūsuf al-Aṣbahānī, the shaykh of al-Bayhaqī, al-Dhahabī translated him in "al-Siyar" (17/239), and described him as: "the righteous imām and muḥaddith"; and he said: "al-Bayhaqī narrated extensively from him." He said in his biography in "Tārīkh al-Islām" (28/187): "He accompanied Abū Saʿīd ibn al-Aʿrābī, and narrated extensively from him... the ḥuffāẓ selected from him, and they traveled to him."
