this was their stance towards them while they were alive, so how about when they are dead?! Al-Bukhārī narrated (1/1)

European edition) and Muslim (8/221) from Ibn ʿUmar that the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said to them when he passed by al-Ḥijr: "Do not enter upon these people who are being punished, unless you are weeping. If you are not weeping, then do not enter upon them lest what befell them befalls you."

- "Do not enter upon these people who are being punished unless you are weeping. If you are not weeping, then do not enter upon them lest what befell them befalls you." (and he covered his face with his garment while on the mount). (from Ibn ʿUmar): It was also narrated by Aḥmad (2/9, 58, 66, 72, 74, 91, 96, 113, 137) and the addition is his. Ṣiddīq Khān titled this ḥadīth in "Nuzul al-Abrār" (p. 293) as "Chapter on Weeping and Fear When Passing by the Graves of the Wrongdoers and Their Ruins, and Showing Neediness to Allāh, and Warning Against Heedlessness of That." I ask Allāh, the Exalted, to grant us understanding in our religion and inspire us to act upon it. Indeed, He is All-Hearing, Responsive. 20 - "Will you not fear Allāh regarding this animal that Allāh has given you ownership of?! It has complained to me that you starve it and exhaust it." Narrated by Abū Dāwūd (1/400), al-Ḥākim (2/99-100), Aḥmad (1/204-205), Abū Yaʿlá in "Musnad" (318/1), and al-Bayhaqī in "Dalāʾil al-Nubuwwah" (vol. 2, chapter on mentioning the three miracles)
