and Yazīd ibn ʿAbd al-Malik: he is al-Nawfalī, al-Dhahabī said in "al-Mughnī": "There is consensus on his weakness." Secondly: Abū Bilāl al-Ashʿarī said: al-Mufaḍḍal ibn Ṣadaqah Abū Ḥamād al-Ḥanafī narrated to us from Abān ibn Abī ʿAyyāsh from Abū Maʿshar al-Tamīmī from Qazʿah, the freed slave of Ziyād, from Abū Umāmah al-Bāhilī in a marfūʿ form similar to the ḥadīth of the chapter, and added: "and Ḥajj expiates what came before it until the Ḥajj." It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (8/313/8016). Al-Haythamī said in "al-Majmaʿ" (2/300): "In it is al-Mufaḍḍal ibn Ṣadaqah, and he is abandoned in ḥadīth." I say: and similarly is Abān ibn Abī ʿAyyāsh; as Aḥmad and others have said. And Abū Bilāl al-Ashʿarī; al-Dāraqutnī weakened him. Thirdly: Yaḥyá ibn Ayyūb said: from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Qurayṭ from ʿAṭāʾ ibn Yasār from Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī narrating: that he heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: and he mentioned only the phrase: "Fasting from Ramaḍān to Ramaḍān is an expiation for what is between them." It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (6/46-47). Al-Haythamī said (3/142): "In it is ʿAbd Allāh ibn Qurayṭ, mentioned by Ibn Abī Ḥātim, who said: Yaḥyá ibn Ayyūb narrates from him, and the rest of the men are those of the authentic collections." I say: Ibn Ḥibbān declared him trustworthy and authenticated a ḥadīth for him by including it in his "Ṣaḥīḥ," but he is only known through the narration of this Yaḥyá, as clarified in "Taysīr al-Intifāʿ."
