I said: This is also mursal. Muḥammad ibn Jubayr—who is the son of Muṭʿim—is a trustworthy tābiʿī, contrary to what the phrase of approval and companionship for his father (Jubayr ibn Muṭʿim) might suggest. The narrator from him, ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, is Ibn Muʿādh ibn al-Ḥuwayrith; he is attributed to his grandfather, and he is weak as mentioned in "al-Kāshif." Al-Ḥāfiẓ said: "Truthful but makes mistakes." I said: Such a person can be used as supporting evidence, if Allāh wills. The other chain is with al-Bayhaqī (956) through Ismāʿīl ibn Rāfiʿ al-Madīnī from Thaʿlabah ibn Ṣāliḥ from Sulaymān ibn Mūsá from Muʿādh ibn Jabal, with a lengthy version similar to it. Through al-Bayhaqī's route, Ibn ʿAsākir included it in "al-Tārīkh" (10/617). It was narrated by Abū Nuʿaym in "al-Ḥilyah" (1/420), and through his route: al-Daylamī in "Musnad" (3/282) from the mentioned aspect; except that he said: "a man from the people of al-Shām" instead of "Sulaymān ibn Mūsá." I said: Sulaymān ibn Mūsá was narrated by Muslim in "al-Muqaddimah," and he did not meet Muʿādh ibn Jabal, so it is also mursal. As for Thaʿlabah ibn Ṣāliḥ, I did not find a biography for him. The narrator from him, Ismāʿīl ibn Rāfiʿ, is weak. There is a fourth chain from Muʿādh, previously extracted under number (1475), but it does not include the first phrase. However, along with the preceding chains, it has many supporting evidences, some of which were previously extracted under numbers (555 and 1730), and in His saying, "So fear Allāh as much as you are able," (Sūrah al-Taghābun, verse 16) is the greatest evidence for it. *
