"It was narrated by al-Bazzār and Abū Yaʿlá, and the isnād of Abū Yaʿlá is ḥasan." I said: Specifying Abū Yaʿlá for mention is a mistake, as is declaring his isnād ḥasan; for it is with him, like al-Bazzār, through the route of ʿAlī ibn Zayd, who is weak. Similarly, specifying al-Ṭabarānī for mention without al-Bazzār is incorrect, and if it were reversed, it would be accurate; because al-Ṭabarānī narrated it through his shaykh (al-Faḍl ibn Abī Rūḥ al-Baṣrī), and no one authenticated him. In fact, Shaykh Ḥammād al-Anṣārī did not know him, so he did not mention him in his unique book: "Bulghat al-Qāṣī wa-al-Dānī fī Tarājim Shuyūkh al-Ṭabarānī." He narrated about five ḥadīths in his three "Muʿjam" collections, this being one of them, but I also did not find a biography for him, while al-Bazzār—despite being of a higher rank than him—narrated it from his shaykh (ʿAlī ibn al-Mundhir), who is trustworthy as al-Dhahabī said, and from the men of "al-Tahdhīb"; so it was necessary to mention him instead of al-Ṭabarānī, as is not hidden from the scholars. *The obligation of purification from defecation
