it contains some additional objectionable elements, which is why I included it in "al-Ḍaʿīfah" (6549). I also included the ḥadīth of ʿImrān referred to beneath it, and it does not mention that the woman is the wife of Abū Dharr. The ḥadīth has already been documented in this "series" (2859), but here there is an additional benefit. *
(A people will come after you, to whom a book will come between two covers. They will believe in it and act upon what is in it; they will have a greater reward than you.) It was narrated by al-Bukhārī in "Afʿāl al-ʿIbād" (124/390 - al-Salafiyyah), and al-Ruyānī in "Musnad" (33/720/1-2), and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (1/741/1), and through his route: al-Mizzī in "Tahdhīb al-Kamāl", al-Harawī in "Dhamm al-Kalām" (Q 148/1), and Ibn ʿAsākir in "Tārīkh Dimashq" (8/95/1) from the route of ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ṣāliḥ: Muʿāwiyah ibn Ṣāliḥ narrated to me from Ṣāliḥ ibn Jubayr who said: Abū Jumʿah al-Anṣārī, a Companion of the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), came to us in Bayt al-Maqdis to pray there, and with us was Rajāʾ ibn Ḥaywah on that day. When he finished, we went out with him to bid him farewell. When we were about to leave, he said: You have a reward and a right upon me; I will narrate to you a ḥadīth I heard from the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam). He said: We said: Tell us, may Allāh have mercy on you! He said: We were with the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and with us was Muʿādh ibn Jabal, one of ten. We said: O Messenger of Allāh! Is there a people who have a greater reward than us; we believed in you and followed you? He said: "What prevents you from that, while the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) is among you, bringing you revelation from the heavens?! Rather, a people..." [and so on with the ḥadīth], and the context is from al-Ruyānī
