but he mentioned its attribution—correctly, may Allāh have mercy on him—in "al-Fatḥ" (11/419) in the chapter "Allāh will seize the earth on the Day of Resurrection," then he said: "It is mentioned here in meaning." He refers—may Allāh have mercy on him—to the ḥadīth of Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī that the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: "The earth will be a single loaf of bread on the Day of Resurrection..." and in it: "Shall I inform you of their condiment—the people of Paradise?" He said: "Their condiment is balām and nūn." They said: And what is this? He said: "A bull and a fish; seventy thousand will eat from the extra part of their livers." It is in "al-Ṣaḥīḥ" under number (6520). It is also narrated by Muslim (8/128). *

(The first to be called on the Day of Resurrection will be Adam. His descendants will be shown, and it will be said: This is your father Adam. He will say: At your service and at your pleasure! It will be said: Bring forth the delegation of Hell from your descendants. He will say: O Lord! How many should I bring forth? It will be said: Bring forth ninety-nine out of every hundred. They said: O Messenger of Allāh! If ninety-nine out of every hundred are taken from us, what will remain of us?! He said: My nation among the nations is like a white hair on a black bull.) Narrated by al-Bukhārī (6529) and Aḥmad (2/378) through the route of Thawr from Abū al-Ghayth from Abū Hurayrah that the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: ... and he mentioned it.
