"a ḥadīth ḥasan, and we do not know of Abū Qilābah hearing from ʿĀʾishah." And al-Ḥākim said: "Its narrators, up to the last of them, are trustworthy according to the criteria of al-Shaykhayn, but they did not include it." Al-Dhahabī commented on this by saying, "I say: it has a disconnection." I say: Al-Ḥākim was aware of this at the beginning of his book, as he said after he presented the ḥadīth from the narration of Abū Hurayrah from the two paths from him (1/4): "This ḥadīth has also been narrated by Muḥammad ibn Sīrīn from Abū Hurayrah, and Shuʿayb ibn al-Ḥabḥāb from Anas, and it was narrated by Ibn ʿUlayyah from Khālid al-Ḥadhdhāʾ from Abū Qilābah from ʿĀʾishah, and I fear that Abū Qilābah did not hear it from ʿĀʾishah." Al-Dhahabī agreed with him. I say: Thus, the ḥadīth with this isnād and wording is weak, and Ibn Abī Shaybah narrated the first part of it (12/185/1). It has been authentically reported from her with a different wording, which is: "The best of you are those who are best to their families, and I am the best of you to my family. When your companion dies, leave him."
- "The best of you are those who are best to their families, and I am the best of you to my family. When your companion dies, leave him." It was narrated by al-Tirmidhī (2/323), al-Dārimī (2/159), and Ibn Ḥibbān (1312) from Muḥammad ibn Yūsuf, who reported from Sufyān, from Hishām ibn ʿUrwah, from his father, from ʿĀʾishah, who said: she said
