the other: from ʿAmr ibn Abī ʿAmr, from al-Muṭṭalib ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ḥanṭab, from Abū Hurayrah with it. It was recorded by Ibn Ḥibbān (1311). I said: Its narrators are trustworthy, except that al-Muṭṭalib is known for much tadlīs, as mentioned in "Taqrīb," and he narrated it with ʿanʿanah. And for its first part, there is a third path from Abū Hurayrah, narrated by Muḥammad ibn ʿAjlān, from al-Qaʿqāʿ ibn Ḥakīm, from Abū Ṣāliḥ, from him. It was recorded by al-Dārimī (2/323), Ibn Abī Shaybah (12/12/1), Aḥmad (2/527), and al-Ṭabarānī in "Mukhtaṣar Makārim al-Akhlāq" (1/110/2), and al-Ḥākim (1/3), who said: "Ṣaḥīḥ according to the conditions of Muslim." And al-Dhahabī agreed with him. I said: It is also ḥasan. For Ibn ʿAjlān, Muslim recorded it as a follow-up, and there is some discussion about him.
