It was recorded by Ibn Qutaybah in "Gharīb al-Ḥadīth" (1/129/2). My father narrated it to me, Yazīd narrated it from al-Muqriʾ, from Ḥayywah ibn Sharīḥ, from Abū Hāniʾ that Abū ʿAlī al-Janbī narrated to him that he heard Faḍālah ibn ʿUbayd with it. I said: This isnād is good except that I do not know Yazīd, the narrator from al-Muqriʾ—whose name is ʿAbdullāh ibn Yazīd al-Muqriʾ—nor did I find a biography for Ibn Qutaybah's father, whose name is Muslim ibn Qutaybah, except what al-Khaṭīb mentioned in the biography of Ibn Qutaybah (10/170): "It is said that his father was from Marw, while he was born in Baghdad."

- "The most complete of the believers in faith are those with the best character, and the best of you are those who are best to their women." This is from the ḥadīth of Abū Hurayrah (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu), and there are two paths from him: the first is from Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr who narrated to us from Abū Salamah from him, who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it. It was recorded by al-Tirmidhī (1/217-218) and Aḥmad (2/250, 472). The first part of it was recorded by Abū Dāwūd (4682), Ibn Abī Shaybah in "al-Muṣannaf" (12/185/1), Abū Nuʿaym in "al-Ḥilyah" (9/248), and al-Ḥākim (1/3) who said: "Authentic according to the conditions of Muslim." Al-Dhahabī agreed with him. I said: It is only ḥasan, because Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr has slight weakness, and it is not according to the conditions of Muslim, as he only recorded it for corroboration.
