and he was corroborated contrary to what al-Bazzār had known, as Ibn Abī Ḥātim said: Abū ʿAbd Allāh al-Ṭuhrānī informed us—in what he wrote to me—saying: ʿAbd al-Razzāq narrated to us: and he mentioned it. This is how it appears in Ibn Kathīr, without clarification of who wrote it, and it is found in Ibn Mandah through the route of Muḥammad ibn ʿImād al-Ẓuhrānī: ʿAbd al-Razzāq narrated to us. I said: He is Muḥammad ibn Ḥammād (with an unpointed ḥāʾ) al-Ṭuhrānī (with a kasrah on the unpointed ṭāʾ), one of the men of Ibn Mājah, trustworthy, and those who weakened him were mistaken; as Ibn Ḥajar said in "al-Taqrīb," and he himself is the same Abū ʿAbd Allāh mentioned earlier by Ibn Abī Ḥātim. They were also followed by (Muḥammad ibn Mahdī al-Abalī) with al-Bayhaqī, who is the brother of (al-Ḥusayn ibn Mahdī) mentioned earlier, and Ibn Ḥibbān also declared him trustworthy (9/99 and 122), and Abū Zurʿah narrated from him. Al-Haythamī said in "Majmaʿ al-Zawāʾid" (7/134): "It was narrated by al-Bazzār and al-Ṭabarānī, and the men of al-Bazzār are the men of 'al-Ṣaḥīḥ'; except for Ḥusayn ibn Mahdī al-Aylī (!), and he is trustworthy." I said: And there are two observations: the first is that al-Ṭabarānī also narrated it through the route of al-Ḥusayn, saying: ʿAbdān ibn Aḥmad narrated to us: al-Ḥusayn ibn Mahdī al-Abalī narrated to us... so there is no reason to specify (al-Bazzār) as mentioned, and (ʿAbdān ibn Aḥmad) is among the well-known preservers, and he might be more reliable than (al-Bazzār). The other is that the correct attribution of (al-Abalī) is that it is with a closed bāʾ. As it appears in "al-Ṭabarānī," and not (al-Aylī) with a dotted yāʾ as it appears with al-Haythamī, and al-Aʿẓamī remained silent about it as is his habit of lack of attention and verification!
