(If he had done so (meaning: Abū Jahl), the angels would have taken him visibly, and if the Jews had wished for death, they would have died). Al-Ḥāfiẓ attributed it in "al-Fatḥ" (8/724) to Ibn Mardawayh with the context of al-Bazzār, and he added after saying: "they would have died": "and they would have seen their seats in the Fire."
