al-ʿAbbās al-Bajalī said: ʿAbd al-Wārith ibn ʿAbd al-Ṣamad mentioned, saying: My father narrated to me: Shuʿbah narrated it. It was also narrated by him, and by Abū Nuʿaym in "al-Ḥilyah" (4/173) through a group from Ibn Khuzaymah, who said: ʿAlī ibn Muslim al-Ṭūsī narrated to us, saying: ʿAbd al-Ṣamad ibn ʿAbd al-Wārith narrated to us. Shuʿbah narrated it. Abū Nuʿaym said: "It is rare from the ḥadīth of al-Aʿmash and Shuʿbah, and only ʿAbd al-Ṣamad raised it." I said: He is truthful and reliable in Shuʿbah; as the ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Taqrīb," and therefore al-Ḥākim said after it: "Authentic according to the conditions of the two shaykhs, and ʿAbd al-Ṣamad ibn ʿAbd al-Wārith ibn Saʿīd is trustworthy and reliable, and they both have recorded for him except for a ḥadīth he narrated uniquely from his father, Shuʿbah, and others." al-Dhahabī agreed with him. Therefore, I have decided to include it here in "al-Ṣaḥīḥah," and all praise is due to Allāh who guided us to this, and we would not have been guided if Allāh had not guided us.

(Shall I not inform you of someone who is stronger than him? (meaning: the one who is knocked down) A man who is wronged by another man, but he suppresses his anger; thus he overcomes him, overcomes his own devil, and overcomes the devil of his companion, (and in another narration): the one who controls himself when angry).
