the first: that its isnād is considered ḥasan through the route of (Shahr ibn Ḥawshab)! He overlooked that its isnād through the route of (Thābit) is authentic and firm. the other: that he used it as supporting evidence for the ḥadīth of Ibn ʿUmar found in Ibn Ḥibbān (167 - Mawārid) with the wording: "Whoever spends the night in a state of purity, an angel spends the night in his garment..." the ḥadīth! It contains nothing from this except the virtue of spending the night pure; thus, it is an insufficient witness as I explained when extracting ḥadīth number (2539). The first truth was also overlooked by al-Mundhirī; for he mentioned it only through the route of Shahr, even though he attributed it to Abū Dāwūd, al-Nasāʾī, and Ibn Mājah. He assumed that the narration of the first two was like the narration of Ibn Mājah from Shahr only, yet he indicated the strengthening of the ḥadīth by introducing it with the word: (ʿan), and likewise, the ḥāfiẓ strengthened it by remaining silent about it in "al-Fatḥ" (11/109), attributing it to the three mentioned without addressing the state of its isnād.

- (There were ten generations between Adam and Noah, and ten generations between Noah and Abraham). It was recorded by al-Ḥākim (2/262), and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (8/139-145), and in "al-Muʿjam al-Awsaṭ" (1/24/2/398 - my numbering) through the route of Abū Tūbah al-Rabīʿ ibn Nāfiʿ al-Ḥalabī: Thana Muʿāwiyah ibn Salām: Zayd ibn Salām narrated to me that he heard Abū Salām say: Abū Umāmah (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) narrated to me: that a man said: O Messenger of Allāh! Was Adam a prophet? He said: "Yes, a prophet who was taught and addressed."
