".. and the dowry of the flute player." It was recorded by al-Bayhaqī. I said: Its isnād is authentic. Second: from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Sharīk: My father narrated to us: al-Aʿmash narrated to us from Abū Ṣāliḥ and Abū Ḥāzim from Abū Hurayrah as a marfūʿ ḥadīth in the wording: "The dowry of the adulteress and the price of the dog are not permissible." It was recorded by al-Ḥākim (2/33), and he said: "Authentic according to the conditions of Muslim." Al-Dhahabī agreed with him! And I say: ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Sharīk was not recorded by Muslim, and he is truthful but makes mistakes. His father, Sharīk—who is Ibn ʿAbd Allāh the judge—was recorded by Muslim as a follow-up, and he is truthful but makes many mistakes. Third: from Muslim ibn Khālid al-Zanjī from al-ʿAlāʾ ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān from his father from Abū Hurayrah as a marfūʿ ḥadīth: He prohibited the earnings of a slave woman unless she has a known work and origin. It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Awsaṭ" (2/28/9/8219), and he said: "No one narrated it from al-ʿAlāʾ except Muslim, and ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbd al-Ḥakam was unique in narrating it." I said: He is the Egyptian, trustworthy, as are all its narrators; except that Muslim ibn Khālid al-Zanjī has many illusions, and al-Haythamī criticized it by saying (4/93): "He is weak, although he was deemed trustworthy."
