and its isnād is authentic according to the criteria of al-Bukhārī and Muslim; however, I have reservations about the authenticity of this addition in this ḥadīth, as it does not appear in those chains, so it seems to be interpolated. There are various chains for the ḥadīth from Abū Hurayrah: the first is from Khālid ibn Abī Yazīd: Ḥammād ibn Zayd narrated to us from Hishām from Muḥammad from Abū Hurayrah from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) that he forbade the price of a dog and the earnings of a prostitute. It was recorded by al-Khaṭīb in "al-Tārīkh" (8/304) and al-Baghawī in "Sharḥ al-Sunnah" (8/22-23). I said: This isnād is good; its narrators are trustworthy according to the criteria of al-Bukhārī and Muslim, except for Khālid ibn Abī Yazīd, who is al-Mazraqī al-Baghdādī. Al-Khaṭīb mentioned him (8/304) with narrations from a group of trustworthy narrators about him, and he narrated from Ibn Maʿīn that he said: "There was nothing wrong with him." Al-Dhahabī said in "al-Kāshif" and al-Ḥāfiẓ in "al-Taqrīb": "Truthful." He was followed up; Abū ʿUbayd narrated it in "Gharīb al-Ḥadīth" (folios 60-61): Ḥajjāj narrated it to me from Ḥammād ibn Salamah from Hishām ibn Ḥassān and Ḥabīb ibn al-Shahīd from Ibn Sīrīn with it; the second sentence of it. And he said: Ḥajjāj said: "(al-zammārah): the prostitute." I said: This isnād is authentic, and Ḥajjāj is Ibn Minhal al-Anmāṭī.
