I said: This isnād contains trustworthy men; except for Layth—who is Ibn Abī Sulaym—he is truthful, but he had become confused. Muslim narrated from him in conjunction, and al-Dhahabī said in "al-Kāshif": "He has slight weakness due to poor memory, but he was a man of prayer, fasting, and much knowledge, and some have used him as evidence." I said: He is used as supporting evidence, and I have found a corroborating witness for him as will be mentioned. And Saʿīd ibn Zayd: he is al-Azdī, the brother of Ḥammād, Muslim narrated from him; but they criticized his memory, and the ḥāfiẓ said: "Truthful but has errors." I said: And he was followed up; Ismāʿīl said (47): Muḥammad ibn Abī Bakr narrated to us: Muʿtamir narrated to us from Layth with it.
