from the books of men, and likewise his father, Ṣāliḥ ibn ʿAlī, I did not find him, so it is an obscure isnād. Worse than that: what Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq al-Asadī narrated: Thana al-Awzāʿī from ʿUrwah ibn Ruwaym al-Lakhmī who said: I heard Abū Umāmah al-Bāhilī in a marfūʿ form: ... and he mentioned it like the ḥadīth of Ḥafṣ ibn ʿUmar al-Ḥawḍī. It was recorded by al-Aṣbahānī in "al-Targhīb" (1/314/712) .... I said: And its flaw is this al-Asadī—who is al-ʿUkāshī; al-Dāraquṭnī said: "He fabricates ḥadīth." The well-known in this chapter: the ḥadīth of Darāj from Abū al-Haytham from Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: "Increase in the enduring good deeds." It was said: And what are they, O Messenger of Allāh? He said: "The creed." It was said: And what is it, O Messenger of Allāh? He said: "The takbīr ..." and he mentioned the four, and added: "And there is no power nor strength except with Allāh." It was recorded by Ibn Ḥibbān (2332), al-Ḥākim (1/512), al-Bayhaqī in "Shuʿab al-Īmān" (1/425/605), al-Ṭabarī in "al-Tafsīr" (15/167), al-Baghawī in "Sharḥ al-Sunnah" (5/64), Aḥmad (3/75), and Abū Yaʿlá (2/524). Al-Ḥākim said: "This is the most authentic isnād of the Egyptians!"
