then a problem occurred to me regarding the text of the ḥadīth, which is that it contains a significant omission that I have clarified in "al-Ḍaʿīfah" (6102); so refer to it. Jarīr followed him from al-Aʿmash with an abridged version saying: "Indeed, the throne of Iblīs is upon the sea, and he sends out his detachments to tempt people, and the greatest of them in his view is the one who causes the greatest temptation." It was recorded by Muslim. The second: Abū al-Zubayr from Jābir with an abridged version similar to the narration of Jarīr. It was recorded by Muslim (8/139), and Aḥmad (3/332, 366, and 384), and Abū al-Zubayr explicitly stated the transmission in a narration for Aḥmad. The third: Wahb ibn Munabbih said: Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allāh informed me that he heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: ... and he mentioned it. It was recorded by Ibn Ḥibbān in "Ṣaḥīḥ" (No. 6154 - al-Iḥsān). I say: Its isnād is authentic. The fourth: Māʿiz al-Tamīmī from Jābir as a marfūʿ narration. It was recorded by Aḥmad (3/354). I say: Its narrators are trustworthy; except for this Māʿiz, the ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Taʿjīl": "unknown, and he is not Māʿiz ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-ʿĀmirī who is in (Thiqāt al-Tābiʿīn) by Ibn Ḥibbān."
