that Umm Sulaym was with Abū Ṭalḥah on the day of Ḥunayn, and Umm Sulaym had a dagger with her. Abū Ṭalḥah said, "What is this with you, Umm Sulaym?!" She replied, "I have taken it so that if any of the disbelievers come near me, I will stab him in the belly with it." Abū Ṭalḥah said, "O Prophet of Allāh! Do you not hear what Umm Sulaym is saying?! She says such and such!" She said, "O Messenger of Allāh! I will kill those who are behind us from the freed ones who fled with you, O Messenger of Allāh!" He said: ... and he mentioned it. I said: This isnād is authentic according to the criteria of Muslim. It has also been recorded by him (5/196) and by Aḥmad (3/190) through other chains from Ḥammād with it. Aḥmad also narrated it (3/108-109) through the route of Ḥumayd from Anas with a similar narration. He also narrated it (3/279) through the route of Isḥāq ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī Ṭalḥah from Anas. Its isnād is three-tiered; however, between Ḥumayd and Anas is Thābit as they mentioned. And Allāh knows best. *
(Indeed, Iblīs places his throne upon the water (in another narration: the sea), then he sends out his detachments; the nearest to him in rank are those who cause the greatest tribulations. One of them comes and says, "I did such and such," and he says, "You have done nothing." Then one of them comes and says, "I did not leave him until I separated him from his wife," so he draws him near and says, "You are excellent!" Al-Aʿmash said: I think he said: then he embraces him). It came from the ḥadīth of Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allāh (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) from the routes: the first is al-Aʿmash from Abū Sufyān from him. It was recorded by Muslim (8/138), Aḥmad (3/314), and ʿAbd ibn Ḥumayd in "al-Muntaqab" (3/20/1031) through the route of Abū Muʿāwiyah: al-Aʿmash narrated it
