"al-milj: sucking, a child sucks his mother, milks her, and milja: when he nurses from her. al-miljah: an instance. al-imlājah: also an instance, from amlājat-hu ummuh; meaning: she nursed him, that is, a single or two sucklings do not prohibit what complete nursing prohibits." I said: and the ḥadīth is among the many evidences that a small amount of nursing does not prohibit, and it is—due to its authenticity—suitable to restrict His saying, the Exalted: "your mothers who nursed you, and your sisters through nursing" (Sūrah al-Nisāʾ, 23). Just as the verse is restricted by the sunnah in that there is no nursing except within two years, it is likewise restricted by this ḥadīth and others. Do not be deceived by what the Ḥanafīs explicitly state—especially Abū Bakr al-Jaṣṣāṣ in "Aḥkām al-Qurʾān" (2/124)—"and it is not permissible to accept solitary reports with us in specifying the ruling of the verse that mandates prohibition with a small amount of nursing..." for they do not adhere to this in many of their branches, and this is the truth; for example, they prohibit silver, gold, and silk for men, despite this contradicting the generality of His saying, the Exalted: "Say, who has forbidden the adornment of Allāh which He has brought forth for His servants and the good things of provision?" (Sūrah al-Aʿrāf, 32). There are many examples of this, which there is no room to delve into now, and a free person suffices with a hint. *From the Heroic Deeds of the Female Companions
"الملج: المصُّ، ملج الصبي أمه يملُجها ملجاً، وملِجَها يملَجها: إذا رضعها. والملجة: المرة. والإملاجة: المرة أيضاً، من أملجته أمه؛ أي: أرضعته، يعني: أن المصة والمصتين لا تحرمان ما يحرمه الرضاع الكامل ". قلت: والحديث من الأدلة الكثيرة على أن الرضاع القليل لا يحرم، وهي- لصحتها- صالحة لتقييد قوله تعالى: (وأمهاتكم اللاتي أرضعنكم وأخواتكم من الرضاعة) [النساء: ٢٣] ، فكما أن الآية مقيدة بالسنة في أنه لا رضاع إلا في حولين، فكذلك هي مقيدة بهذا الحديث وغيره، فلا يغرنك ما صرح به الحنفية- وبخاصة منهم أبو بكر الجصاص في "أحكام القرآن " (٢/١٢٤) -:"ولا يجوز قبول أخبار الآحاد عندنا في تخصيص حكم الآية الموجبة للتحريم بقليل الرضاع ... "! فإنهم لا يلتزمون هذا في كثير من فروعهم، وهو الحق؛ فإنهم مثلاً يحرمون الفضة والذهب والحرير على الرجال، مع مخالفة ذلك لعموم قوله تعالى: (قل من حرَّم زينة الله التي أخرج لعباده والطيبات من الرزق) [الأعراف: ٣٢] والأمثلة في ذلك كثيرة لا مجال للخوض فيها الآن، والُحرُّ تكفيه الإشارة. *من بطولات الصحابيات
