(1/488), and al-Ḥākim (4/426-427) from Maʿmar, from Isḥāq ibn Rāshid, from ʿAmr ibn Wābiṣah al-Asadī, from his father who said: I was in my house in Kūfah when I heard at the door: "Peace be upon you, may I enter?" I said: "And peace be upon you; enter." When he entered, it was ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd. He said: I asked: "O Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān! What time is this for a visit?" It was in the middle of the day. He said: "The day felt long for me, so I thought of someone to talk to." He then began to narrate from the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and I narrated to him. He said: Then he began to narrate to me and said: "I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: ..." and he mentioned it. Al-Ḥākim said: "The isnād is authentic." Al-Dhahabī agreed with him. And it is as they said. ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Mubārak followed him: "I am Maʿmar with it." It was recorded by Aḥmad (1/449). Al-Haythamī said (7/203): "Aḥmad narrated it with two isnāds, and the men of one of them are trustworthy." I said: He means by the first: his narration through the route of ʿAbd al-Razzāq, and by the other: his narration through the route of Ibn al-Mubārak. There is no real difference between them except that in the first narration, Isḥāq ibn Rāshid was not named; rather, it was said: (from a man) who is Isḥāq as in the narration of "al-Muṣannaf" and "al-Mustadrak," and the other narration of "al-Musnad." Shaykh al-Aʿẓamī did not notice this in his commentary on "al-Muṣannaf"! So he only attributed the first narration to Aḥmad! This; and some narrators inserted between Isḥāq and ʿAmr: a man who is unknown, and this is a rare and even rejected narration. This will be explained, Allāh willing, at the beginning of "Kitāb al-Fitan" from "Ṣaḥīḥ Sunan Abī Dāwūd." *
