I said: This isnād is good or close to good; its narrators are trustworthy, with none criticized except for the shaykh of al-Bukhārī (ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUthmān), whom Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned in "al-Thiqāt" (8/347), as well as those above him, but he said about this shaykh: "His ḥadīth is considered if narrated by someone other than the weak narrators." It appeared in it as: (ʿanhu)! And in "Tahdhīb al-ʿAsqalānī" - from "al-Thiqāt" -: (ʿan). And perhaps this is more correct; because it is the usual wording of Ibn Ḥibbān regarding such a narrator. In any case; this ḥadīth is considered because his shaykh (Ḥujr ibn al-Ḥārith) is trustworthy. And the narrator from him is Imām al-Bukhārī, who mentioned it in "al-Tārīkh," and did not weaken it, while Abū Ḥātim said: "Ṣāliḥ." And al-Dhahabī said in "al-Kāshif": "He is not that [strong]." However, what strengthens this ḥadīth is that it has two other paths: the first is narrated by Abū al-Asʿad (or Abū al-Aswad) - from the descendants of Bashīr ibn ʿAqraʿ al-Juhanī, who resided in (ʿAsqalān) in (al-Ramlah) in the village of (Ṭūr) - from his father from his grandfather from Bashīr ibn ʿAqraʿ al-Juhanī who said: I met the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) on the day of Uḥud, and I said: What happened to my father? He said: "He was martyred, may Allāh have mercy on him," so I cried, and he took me, wiped my head, carried me with him, and said: ... and he mentioned it
