Ibn Abī Shaybah and al-Ḥākim (3/430-431) through various routes from ʿAbd al-Malik ibn ʿUmayr from Jābir ibn Samurah from Nāfiʿ ibn ʿUtbah ibn Abī Waqqāṣ (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam). And in "Musnad Aḥmad" (4/337-338) there are two other routes from Ibn ʿUmayr, one of them through al-Masʿūdī from ʿAbd al-Malik in it—this is also with Ibn Abī ʿĀṣim (643)—but it occurred in place of (ʿAbd al-Malik): (ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUmayr), and it is likely a typographical error—yet the esteemed commentator said about it: "Its isnād is authentic, its men are the men of the authentic [collections]!" He overlooked that this al-Masʿūdī had become confused, and that neither of the two Shaykhs narrated from him except al-Bukhārī in a suspended form, so it is authentic through the other routes. Yūnus ibn Abī Isḥāq differed, saying: from ʿAbd al-Malik ibn ʿUmayr from Jābir ibn Samurah from Hāshim ibn ʿUtbah ibn Abī Waqqāṣ in a raised form with the wording: "The Muslims will prevail over the Arabian Peninsula..." a ḥadīth similar to it. Al-Ḥākim also recorded it (3/395); so he placed (Hāshim ibn ʿUtbah) in place of (Nāfiʿ ibn ʿUtbah)! And I think this is one of the errors of this Yūnus; for although he is among the men of Muslim, the ḥāfiẓ said about him: "Truthful, but errs a little." And what confirms this—that the ḥadīth is from the Musnad of (Nāfiʿ) and not from the Musnad of (Hāshim)—is that Simāk ibn Ḥarb followed Ibn ʿUmayr correctly, as Shuʿbah said: from him from Jābir ibn Samurah with it. Ibn Ḥibbān recorded it (8/285/6770 - al-Iḥsān)
