as for al-Dhahabī, he was lenient; he said in "al-Mīzān": "There is a difference of opinion regarding using him as evidence. This is what Ibn al-Jawzī said, and the man is truthful." I say: such a person is considered to have a good ḥadīth, if Allāh wills, as long as he does not contradict the trustworthy narrators. He has contradicted them in the wording of the ḥadīth, as will be explained shortly, if Allāh wills. Abū Yaʿlá narrated it through his chain (6/84) in a summarized form with the wording: "He used to say: O Allāh, the good is the good of the Hereafter, so forgive the Anṣār and the Muhājirīn." I say: although the narrator from Zakarīyā, according to him, is Suwayd ibn Saʿīd, who is weak, it is the correct version of the ḥadīth of Anas; because Zakarīyā was followed in it by Ḥammād ibn Salamah from Thābit with a more complete wording. She said: The Companions of Muḥammad (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) used to say on the day of the trench: We are those who pledged allegiance to Muḥammad for Islam as long as we live forever, or he said: for jihad—Ḥammād was uncertain—and the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) would say: "O Allāh, the good..." It was narrated by Muslim (5/189), Aḥmad (3/252 and 288), and also by Abū Yaʿlá (6/70/3324), and al-Bayhaqī in "al-Dalāʾil" (3/141), and he paired this with (Thābit) Ḥumayd. It was also narrated by al-Bukhārī (3796 and 4909), al-Nasāʾī in "al-Sunan al-Kubrā" (5/27/8859), Ibn Saʿd (2/70), and also by al-Bayhaqī (3/410), and in "al-Sunan" (7/43),
