and among what is worth mentioning is that I considered this authentic ḥadīth as supporting evidence for the ḥadīth of the chapter despite the apparent difference between their wordings. This is because it is known among scholars that a postal route is usually twelve miles, and perhaps for this reason, the ḥāfiẓ remained silent about the ḥadīth of ʿAdī ibn Zayd in "al-Fatḥ" (4/85), despite the obscurity in its isnād. As for the addition at the end: "do not harm its trees...", it has supporting evidence from the ḥadīth of Jābir and others, which I have documented in "Ṣaḥīḥ Abī Dāwūd" (no. 1777).

- "Conduct the transaction with the Bedouin well." It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (4/35/3559 and 5/307/5294) through the route of Abū al-Haytham Khalaf ibn al-Haytham al-Nahshalī al-Qaṣṣāb: Ghassān ibn al-Agharr al-Nahshalī narrated to us: My uncle Ziyād ibn al-Ḥuṣayn narrated from his father Ḥuṣayn ibn Qays that he brought food to Medina and met the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), who said: "What are you carrying, O Bedouin?" He said: Wheat. He said: "What did you intend with it—or what do you intend with it?" He said: I intended to sell it, so he patted my head and said... and he mentioned it. I say: This isnād has trustworthy men, except for Khalaf, for whom I did not find a biography, but he has been followed up by: 1- al-Ṣalt ibn Muḥammad who said: Ghassān ibn al-Agharr narrated to us with a brief version.
