I said: and this is more lenient in criticism, even if his weakness is more prevalent, for Ibn Maʿīn said in one narration: "There is no harm in him." I said: someone like him can be used as supporting evidence and there is no harm—if Allāh wills—and the rest of the men are trustworthy. The second [narration]: from Ṣāliḥ ibn Muḥammad ibn Zāʾidah al-Laythī from ʿĀmir ibn Saʿd ibn Abī Waqqāṣ from his father, who said: ... and he mentioned it in its meaning. It was recorded by Ibn ʿAdī (4/59). This is like the previous one or better than it; for this Ṣāliḥ, al-Dhahabī said in "al-Mīzān": "His condition is acceptable..." and he said in "al-Mughnī": "Ṣuwailiḥ, al-Dāraquṭnī said: weak, and Aḥmad said: I see no harm in him, and Ibn Maʿīn said: weak." And it was mentioned in "al-Kāshif" that he was a man of night worship, devotion, and striving. Someone like him can be used as supporting evidence, and the ḥadīth rises to the rank of ḥasan at least, and to ṣaḥīḥ with certainty with the following witness, which is: the third [narration]: from Abū Hurayrah who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) prohibited what is between the two lava tracts of Medina... and made twelve miles around Medina a sanctuary. It was recorded by Muslim (4/116), and Aḥmad (2/279)
