and a weak relief. There is a fourth route for the ḥadīth from Abū Umāmah, raised with the wording: "Fear Allāh your Lord..." the ḥadīth similar to the wording of the translation. Its extraction was previously mentioned under number (867). *

- The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) protected every side of Medina by a distance of a mile by a mile. It was recorded by Abū Dāwūd (2036), and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (17/111/722) from the route of Sulaymān ibn Kinānah, the freedman of ʿUthmān ibn ʿAffān: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī Sufyān informed us from ʿAdī ibn Zayd who said: ... and he mentioned it, adding: "Its trees are not to be beaten nor cut down; except for what is needed to drive the camel." I said: This isnād is unknown as is clarified elsewhere, but I included it here to establish its authenticity with some evidence I have found; I have not seen anyone do this before, so I say: the first: Abū Bakr al-Faḍl narrated from Jābir who said: ... and he mentioned something similar. It was recorded by al-Bazzār in "his Musnad" (2/54/1190), and he said: "It is not narrated except from this route, and al-Faḍl ibn Mubashshir... his ḥadīth is acceptable." Thus he said! Al-Ḥāfiẓ critiqued him, saying in "Mukhtaṣar al-Zawāʾid" (2/479): "I said: Rather, he is weak." And he said in "al-Taqrīb": "He has some weakness."
