and both are Basran followers who narrate from ʿĀʾishah. If they are the same person, then the ḥadīth is authentic, especially since the portion about the glass vessels is authentic; because it has a corroborating narration from Anas (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu). Aḥmad said (3/206): Ruḥ narrated to us: Zurārah ibn Abī al-Ḥalāl al-ʿAtakī narrated to us, saying: I heard Anas ibn Mālik narrate that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: "O Anjashah! Slow down with the glass vessels." I said: Its chain of transmission is a sound, uninterrupted three-link chain; Ruḥ—who is Ibn ʿUbādah—is trustworthy and among the narrators of the two Shaykhs, and Zurārah was deemed trustworthy by Ibn Ḥibbān and Ibn Khulfūn, and a number of other trustworthy narrators have narrated from him, as mentioned in "al-Taʿjīl." He was also corroborated by Ḥumayd with al-Ḥārith—as in "al-Fatḥ" (10/544)—and it was mentioned that his saying: "Slow down" means: enough. There are other paths from Anas with the same meaning in "the two Ṣaḥīḥs" and elsewhere, and I have included some of them in "al-Silsilah al-Ukhra" under ḥadīth (6059). (Note): It was previously mentioned when discussing the biography of "Shamīsah al-ʿAtakiyyah," quoting from "al-Jarḥ wa-al-Taʿdīl," that the one who deemed her trustworthy was Ibn Maʿīn, which is consistent with what is in "Juzʾ Yazīd ibn al-Haytham" as previously mentioned. So the statement of Shaykh al-Jīlānī in "Sharḥ al-Adab al-Mufrad" (1/236): "Ibn ʿAdī deemed her trustworthy (the book al-Jarḥ wa-al-Taʿdīl. The manuscript owned by the Dāʾirat al-Maʿārif in Hyderabad, Deccan)"! His statement: "Ibn ʿAdī" is a distortion of "Ibn Maʿīn," I do not know if it is from the manuscript, or from the one who copied it, or the printer?
