just as ʿUthmān ibn Saʿīd narrated from him, saying (105/333): "It was said to him: And Shamīsah? He said: Trustworthy, narrated from by Shuʿbah, Ibn Abī Ḥāzim, and al-Darāwardī, there is no harm in her." I said: This is an important piece of information to add to the biography of Shamīsah in "Tahdhīb al-Mizzī" and its branches. ʿAbd Allāh ibn Aḥmad mentioned this Shamīsah among those who saw Shuʿbah from the narrators in his book "al-ʿIlal" (1/162), then he said (1/267 and 2/245): My father told me, saying: ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Thawr told us, saying: My mother told me, saying: I saw Shamīsah bint ʿAzīz ibn Ghāfir (1) al-Wasqiyyah—ʿUbayd Allāh said: a clan from us, meaning al-ʿAtīk—wearing two anklets, and she was an old woman. I said: It appears that she is the one mentioned in "Tārīkh Wāsiṭ" by Baḥshal, who said (109/88): Muḥammad ibn Ismāʿīl told us, saying: ʿAffān told us, saying: Shuʿbah told us, saying: My mother said to me: There is a woman here who narrates from ʿĀʾishah—(raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhā); go and listen to her. He said: So I went and listened to her, and I said: I have gone. She said: May Allāh keep you safe. Abū al-Ḥasan (he is Baḥshal, the author) said: "This woman is called: Shamsiyyah (thus) Umm Salamah." This is another unique piece of information from Baḥshal, that her kunyah is Umm Salamah, which is something to note against al-Ḥāfiẓ al-Dhahabī in "al-Muqtaṣanā fī Sard al-Kunā." And his statement: "Shamsiyyah" I think is a distortion of "Shamīsah," and Allāh the Exalted knows best. In summary: this "Shamīsah" is trustworthy, unlike Sumayyah, who is unknown,
