when the month of Rabīʿ al-Awwal came, he entered upon her, and she saw his shadow. She said, "This is surely the shadow of the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) does not enter upon me, so who is this?!" The Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) entered, and when she saw him, she said, "O Messenger of Allāh! I do not know what to do when you entered upon me?!" She said: She had a servant girl whom she used to hide from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), so she said, "So-and-so is yours." The Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) went to Zaynab's bed, which had been raised, and he placed it with his hand, then he was intimate with his family, and he was pleased with them. Then Aḥmad said after this ḥadīth—and in "Musnad ʿĀʾishah (6/131-132)"—: ʿAffān narrated to us: Ḥammād narrated to us—meaning: Ibn Salamah—he said: Thābit narrated to us from Shamayṣah from ʿĀʾishah: that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) was on a journey, and Ṣafiyyah's camel became ill, and Zaynab had extra camels. The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said to her, "Ṣafiyyah's camel is ill, so if you could give her a camel from your camels." She said, "Shall I give to that Jewess?!" He said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) left her during Dhū al-Ḥijjah and Muḥarram for two or three months without visiting her. She said, "Until I despaired of him, and I moved my bed." She said: While I was one day at midday, suddenly I saw the shadow of the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) approaching. ʿAffān said: Ḥammād narrated it to me from Shamayṣah from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), then I heard him later narrating it from Shamayṣah from ʿĀʾishah from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and he said later: during Ḥajj or ʿUmrah, and I think he only said: during the Farewell Pilgrimage. It was also recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Awsaṭ" (1/145/2/2770) - in its entirety similarly -
فلما كان شهر ربيع الأول؛ دخل عليها، فرأت ظلَّه، فقالت: إن هذا لظل رسول الله ﷺ، وما يدخل علي النبي ﷺ، فمن هذا؟! فدخل النبي ﷺ، فلما رأته قالت: يا رسول الله! ما أدري ما أصنع حين دخلت علي؟! قالت: وكانت لها جارية، وكانت تخبِّئُها من النبي ﷺ، فقالت: فلانة لك، فمشى النبي ﷺ إلى سرير زينب، وكان قد رُفع، فوضعه بيده، ثم أصاب أهله، ورضي عنهم. ثم قال أحمد عقب هذا الحديث- وفي "مسند عائشة (٦/١٣١- ١٣٢) -: ثنا عفان: ثنا حماد- يعني: ابن سلمة- قال: ثنا ثابت عن شميسة عن عائشة: أن رسول الله ﷺ كان في سفر له، فاعتلَّ بعير لصفية، وفي إبل زينب فضل، فقال لها رسول الله ﷺ: "إن بعيراً لصفية اعتل، فلو أعطيتِها بعيراً من إبلك". فقالت: أنا أعطي تلك اليهودية؟! قال: فتركها رسول الله ﷺ ذا الحجة والمحرم شهرين أو ثلاثة لا يأتيها، قالت: حتى يئستُ منه، وحَوُّلْتُ سريري. قالت: فبينما أنا يوماً بنصف النهار؛ إذا أنا بظل رسول الله ﷺ مُقْبِل. قال عفان: حدثنيه حماد عن شميسة عن النبي ﷺ، ثم سمعته بعد يحدثه عن شميسة عن عائشة عن النبي ﷺ، وقال بعد: في حج أو عمرة، ولا أظنه إلا قال: في حجة الوداع. وأخرجه الطبراني في "المعجم الأوسط" (١/١٤٥/٢/ ٢٧٧٠) - بتمامه نحوه-،
