He did not mention Qatādah between Abū Tamīmah and al-Thawrī, and this [narrator] did not meet Abū Tamīmah, so I do not know whether the mention of Qatādah was omitted by the copyist or the printer, or is the narration like this?! The first is more likely, and Allāh knows best. This discontinuity was not noticed by the commentator on "al-Muṣannaf," nor by the commentator on "al-Iḥsān" (8/350 - printed by the institution). As for the elevated narration of Saʿīd, al-Ruyānī said in "Musnad" (Q 107/2): Muḥammad ibn Bashshār narrated to us: Ibn Abī ʿAdī and ʿAbd al-Aʿlá narrated to us, they said: Saʿīd ibn Abī ʿArūbah narrated to us from Qatādah with it elevated. And likewise, it was extracted by Ibn Khuzaymah in "Ṣaḥīḥ" (3/313/2154), and also by al-Bazzār (1040) through the route of Muḥammad ibn Abī ʿAdī alone. I said: This is a sound isnād, and it is not harmed by those who stopped it; for it is not said by opinion as is apparent, and al-Ḥāfiẓ al-ʿIrāqī said in "Takhrīj al-Iḥyāʾ" (1/238): "It was extracted by Aḥmad and al-Nasāʾī in 'al-Kubrā' and Ibn Ḥibbān, and Abū ʿAlī al-Ṭūsī deemed it good." I said: It is not in the recently printed "al-Kubrā" of al-Nasāʾī, which is from the narration of Ibn al-Aḥmar, and al-Ḥāfiẓ al-Mizzī informed in "Tuḥfat al-Ashrāf" (6/423) that it is in the narration of Abū al-Ḥasan ibn Ḥayyawayh from al-Nasāʾī. And al-Haythamī said (3/193): "It was narrated by Aḥmad, al-Bazzār, and al-Ṭabarānī in 'al-Kabīr', and its men are the men of the Ṣaḥīḥ."
