the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: ... and he mentioned it. Abū Nuʿaym said: "It is rare from the narration of al-Fuḍayl and Hishām, and Ḥusayn ibn ʿAlī al-Juʿfī was unique in narrating it from them." I said: He is trustworthy, from the men of the two Shaykhs [al-Bukhārī and Muslim], as are those above him, so the chain is authentic according to their criteria. It is surprising that al-Ḥākim did not include it in his "al-Mustadrak"! There is another chain for the ḥadīth, narrated by Muḥammad ibn Yūsuf al-Firyābī: Sufyān al-Thawrī narrated to us from al-Aʿmash from Abū Ṣāliḥ from Abū Hurayrah with a similar narration. It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Awsaṭ" (2294), and al-Bazzār (4/162/3448-Kashf) through two chains from al-Firyābī with it. Al-Ṭabarānī said: "No one narrated this ḥadīth from Sufyān except al-Firyābī." I said: He is trustworthy, from the men of the two Shaykhs, as are those above him; thus, the chain is also authentic. It has a supporting narration from Zayd ibn Thābit with a similar meaning, but it does not mention the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and ʿĪsá; its chain is authentic, and it is extracted in "al-Ẓilāl" (245). *
(The thing I fear most for you is a man who recites the Quran until its beauty is seen upon him, and he becomes a support for Islam; then he withdraws from it, casts it behind his back, and attacks his neighbor with the sword, accusing him of shirk. I said: O Prophet of Allāh! Which of them is more deserving of shirk, the accuser or the accused? He said: Rather, the accuser.) It was recorded by al-Bukhārī in "al-Tārīkh" (4/301/0729), and Abū Yaʿlá in "Musnad al-Kabīr"—as mentioned in "Tafsīr Ibn Kathīr" (2/265) and "al-Maṭālib al-ʿĀliyah" (4/273/4423)—and through the route of Abū Yaʿlá: Ibn Ḥibbān in "Ṣaḥīḥ" (1/148/81), and al-Bazzār in..
