from these paths is the narration of Sufyān found in Muslim, but he did not include the ḥadīth of the chapter; rather, al-Ṭabarānī included it in another place (340/2258). And for the statement of Jarīr mentioned, there is another path, narrated by Bayān from Qays ibn Abī Ḥāzim in the same way. It was recorded by al-Bukhārī (7/131/3822), and also by Muslim, Aḥmad (4/359), and al-Ṭabarānī (2/350/2286 and 2287) through various paths from him. And for the ḥadīth of the chapter, there is another path narrated by Yūnus ibn Abī Isḥāq from al-Mughīrah ibn Shibl from Jarīr ibn ʿAbd Allāh who said: When I approached the city of the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), I dismounted my camel, unpacked my belongings, and put on my best clothes. I entered upon the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) while he was delivering a sermon, and I greeted the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam). The people stared at me, so I asked a companion: O servant of Allāh! Did the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) mention anything about me? He said: Yes, he mentioned you in the best manner. While he was delivering the sermon, he mentioned you and said: "Indeed, someone will enter upon you..." The ḥadīth is similar, except that he said at the end: "I praised Allāh for what He bestowed upon me." It was also recorded by al-Nasāʾī in "al-Kubrā" (no. 8304), Ibn Ḥibbān (7155), Ibn Abī Shaybah (12391), Aḥmad (4/359 and 364), and also by al-Ṭabarānī (2483) through various paths from him. I say: Its isnād is authentic. Its narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of Muslim, except for this al-Mughīrah; and he is trustworthy without dispute
