- "A man from the best of those from Yemen will enter through this door, with a touch of nobility on his face. Then Jarīr entered." It was recorded by al-Bukhārī in "al-Adab al-Mufrad" (250): ʿAlī ibn ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us, saying: Sufyān narrated to us from Ismāʿīl from Qays who said: I heard Jarīr saying: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) never saw me since I embraced Islam except that he smiled at me, and the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: ... and he mentioned it. I said: ʿAlī is Ibn al-Madīnī. He was corroborated by al-Ḥumaydī, who said in "his Musnad" (350/800): Sufyān narrated it to us in the same way. It was also recorded by al-Nasāʾī in "al-Sunan al-Kubrā" (5/82) through the path of Qutaybah from Sufyān in the same way. I said: This isnād is authentic according to the criteria of al-Bukhārī and Muslim, so it is surprising that al-Ḥākim did not include it! I mean the ḥadīth of the chapter, otherwise the statement of Jarīr: "The Messenger of Allāh never saw me..." etc., was recorded by both al-Bukhārī (10/504/6089) and Muslim (7/157-158), as well as Ibn Ḥibbān (9/165/7156), Ibn Abī Shaybah (12/152/12390), and also Ibn Mājah (159), Aḥmad (4/358, 362, 365), and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (2/330/2219-2223) through many paths from Ismāʿīl ibn Abī Khālid in the same way
