It was recorded by al-Ḥākim (3/317), al-Bazzār (3/248/6677), and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (19/28/59). Al-Ḥākim said: "The isnād is authentic." Al-Dhahabī agreed with him. I said the isnād of al-Bazzār is according to the conditions of Muslim, and he said: "We do not know anyone who narrated it from Shuʿbah except Sahl." This is what he said! However, it was narrated by al-Ṭayālisī in "Musnad" (145/1077): Shuʿbah narrated to us from Muʿāwiyah ibn Qurrah that Ibn Masʿūd ... the ḥadīth. This is how it appeared! He did not say: "- from his father," so either it was omitted by the copyist or the printer, or this is how the narration was with him. The first is more likely because he included it in "Musnad Qurrah," and he mentioned several ḥadīths from the narration of Muʿāwiyah ibn Qurrah from his father, and one of them is according to the conditions of al-Tirmidhī and he authenticated it, and it is included in "Faḍāʾil al-Shām" (number 5). Also, if the narration reached him without the phrase: "from his father," then the ḥadīth would be mursal, and in this case, it would not be suitable to include it in "al-Musnad." And Allāh knows best. Based on what I have preferred; if Qurrah received it directly from Ibn Masʿūd, then it is a second path from him; otherwise, it is a mursal of a Companion, and the mursal reports of the Companions are considered authoritative. There is a third path, but it is weak because it is from the narration of al-Muʿallá ibn ʿUrfān—who is abandoned in ḥadīth—on the authority of Abū Wāʾil, from ʿAbd Allāh with a similar account. It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī (8453). And a fourth path with a good isnād from Sārah bint ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd that her father informed her, saying:
