from the virtues of ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu)

(What are you laughing at? They said: O Prophet of Allāh! At the thinness of his legs!! He said: By the One in Whose hand is my soul; they are heavier on the scale than Uḥud.) It is reported from the ḥadīth of Ibn Masʿūd and ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib. 1- As for the ḥadīth of Ibn Masʿūd; it has two routes: the first: from Ḥammād ibn Salamah from ʿĀṣim from Zirr ibn Ḥubaysh from Ibn Masʿūd: that he was gathering a siwāk from the arāk tree, and he had thin legs, so the wind was swaying him, and the people laughed at him. The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: ... and he mentioned it. It was recorded by Aḥmad (1/420-421), Ibn Saʿd (3/155), Ibn Ḥibbān (9/103/7029), as well as al-Ṭayālisī (355), Abū Yaʿlá (9/209-210), al-Bazzār (3/249/2678), al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Kabīr" (9/75/8452), and Abū Nuʿaym in "al-Ḥilyah" (1/127); all of them through routes from Ḥammād. Zāʾidah disagreed, saying: from ʿĀṣim ibn Abī al-Najūd from Zirr who said: ... and he mentioned it as mursal; it does not include Ibn Masʿūd. It was recorded by Ibn Abī Shaybah in "al-Muṣannaf" (12/113/11279). And Zāʾidah—who is Ibn Qudāmah—is more reliable than Ḥammād ibn Salamah, but it is strengthened by the other route, narrated by Sahl ibn Ḥammād Abū ʿAtāb: Shuʿbah narrated to us from Muʿāwiyah ibn Qurrah from his father: that ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd climbed a tree ... a similar ḥadīth
