and the strangeness in this ḥadīth of his is evident; as he made the crowing of the rooster at night something to seek refuge from! It is possible that the phrase asking Allāh for His bounty was omitted from it. And Allāh knows best. *

(The Hour will not be established until a man kills his neighbor, his brother, and his father). It was recorded by al-Bukhārī in "al-Adab al-Mufrad" (no. 118): Makhled ibn Mālik narrated to us, saying: ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Mughrah narrated to us, saying: Burayd ibn ʿAbd Allāh narrated from Abū Burdah from Abū Mūsá who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: ... and he mentioned it. And it was mentioned by al-Daylamī in "Musnad al-Firdaws" (3/168- al-Gharāʾib) from al-Ḥākim with a suspended isnād from Makhled ibn Mālik with it. I say: This is a good isnād, its narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of al-Bukhārī; except for ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Mughrah, and there is disagreement about him, al-Dhahabī said in "al-Kāshif": "He was deemed trustworthy by Abū Zurʿah and others, but Ibn ʿAdī considered him weak." Al-Ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Taqrīb": "Truthful, but his ḥadīth from al-Aʿmash was criticized." I say: This is from others as you see, so it is good as we mentioned. (Note): Al-Daylamī does not include the phrase: "his neighbor and his father," and it was also mentioned by al-Suyūṭī in "al-Jāmiʿ al-Kabīr" with the narration of al-Ḥākim in "his history"! So he missed this high and reliable source, with the carefulness of its author, Imām al-Bukhārī, and this more complete text! Likewise, it was missed by the commentator on "al-Firdaws" (5/81/7520). *
